What is The Preparation For The Operation?
The patient applies to our hospital the day before of the operation of Hip Joint Implant and is examined by the Ortopedic Surgeon.
Following the examination, the Orthopedic Surgeon decides the type of implant and orders it.
After all, the Anesthesiologist examines the patient and orders blood samples and the other “pre-ops” examinations like; ECG, Lung x-ray and etc.
According to the results of the pre-ops assessments, the patient is taken to his/her room to rest and relax until the operation.
When is The Operation Executed?
One day after all that preparations regarding the operation and the ordered implant has been made ready, the patient can undergo the operation “Hip Joint Implant”.
While starting the surgical operation; firstly the patient is anesthetized. Folowing, the area of the hip is opened and femural head is removed,
then asetabuler surface is replaced with metal implant. The operation takes between 2 or 3 hours, under normal circumstances.
After the operation, the patient becomes mobilized within 2 days in average and could be discharged after 4 post-operative days.
Which Steps/ Phases Are To Be Considered Post-Operatively?
The patient has to get resfreshed dressing every second day and this until the 14th day.
On the 14th. day, the suturs will be removed, if no exceptional circumstance is witnessed. The following phases to be followed during the first post-operative year:
I. Phyiscal examination on the 6th week
II. Phyiscal examination on the 12th week
Phyiscal examination on the 24th week
Phyiscal examination on the 36th week
Phyiscal examination on the 48th Week
On the second year, physical examination is foreseen every 6 months.
As of the third year, a physical examination once a year is advised.
